Personal values are shaped through life, from childhood to adulthood, and they are impacted from different events, such as life experiences, social interactions and media consumption. Our personal values are embedded in every decision we make, because consciously and unconsciously we carry those values with us.

There are many values that can influence your decisions. It’s important to consider which values are important when you make a decision. Do you use passion or responsibility? You can consider which values you find most difficult to you. For example, if you find punctuality hard you may not work well in an organization with very strict and tight deadlines.

In this way, personal values influence your professional values and how you conduct yourself at work. You establish your own approach in accordance with your priorities and personal values, while your employer establishes the office policies and house rules. This is why it is essential to find a workplace that aligns well with your own personal values because that impacts on how you complete your tasks, and your wellbeing at work.

The Value and Benefits of Harmonizing Your Personal and Professional Values

It is hard to find an organization where their values match perfectly yours, each individual should aim to find the ability to harmonize their personal values with their corporate values. It is a proven truth that individuals who share the same ideals as the business get along considerably better than those who have competing interests. While sharing values does not always imply having the same personalities or attitudes as other people, it does facilitate the development of strong working connections because these individuals have similar purposes, passions, and objectives.

They can relate to one another better as a result, and they may express their ideas and beliefs in a more honest and open minded way. There will be fewer conflicts or none at all, creating a group of caring and motivated individuals eager to collaborate for the common good.

Employees are happier and more motivated to perform their jobs when their own values coincide with those of the business. Because they are aware of the positive impact their work has on the company’s overall success, they are internally motivated to finish the task at hand.

Conflicting Values Can Lead to Contradictory Issues

Your capacity to be engaged, productive, and highly effective is maximized when your personal values and those of your place of employment coincide. This leads to more opportunities for joy and happiness, more moments of contentment, and alignment with your life’s legacy.
